Lavender Rose Vanilla Simple Syrup
Makes 8 Servings | Prep Time: 1 Minute | Cook Time: 15 Minutes
Ingredients
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
1/4 cup Rose Petals
3 tbsp Lavender Buds
1/2 vanilla bean pod, split open. Or 1 tsp vanilla extract
Supplies
Small Saucepan
Fine Mesh Strainer
Jar or Bottle for Storage
I love 8 oz swing-top bottles for this!
Directions
Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil
Boil vigorously for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes.
Allow to cool for 5 minutes then pour through a fine mesh strainer to remove the flower petals.
Transfer the filtered syrup to a clean bottle or jar.
Store in fridge for up to 1 month
What to do with the spent petals?
After straining out the syrup, I like to return the spent petals to the saucepan with 1 cup of filtered water and bring to a light boil. This will extract the last little bit of syrup that was left on the petals. Strain out the petals once more and store the remaining liquid in a jar in the fridge. Use it as a liquid ingredient in recipes, mocktails, or lattes. It’s delicious!
Make it sugar-free:
Swap the sugar for sugar-free alternatives like Lakanto (erythritol and monk fruit blend).
To help thicken the mixture and prevent crystallization, after the mixture has simmered, add a pinch of xanthan gum and whisk quickly to dissolve.
